The 5 common skin problems.

Most people get warts at some point in their lives, usually at the age of 20.

what is it?

Warts are skin-colored lumps, which can be 1 mm in size to more than 1 cm. Warts can appear anywhere, but usually, affect the hands and feet. Genital warts appear around the genitals or anus.

What causes warts?skin

Can be caused by HPV infection, which can be transmitted by contact with the skin and sometimes through surfaces such as floors and towels. If you have warts, you can transfer them to other people through contact. You can also transfer them to other parts of your body.

what is the cure?

Most warts disappear on their own, but this can take up to two years. Treatment includes:

Over-the-counter creams and ointments (not for use on genital warts) – Ask your pharmacist about the types that may be appropriate for you.

The chemicals are given by prescription and can be placed on the warts.

Cryotherapy, which should be done by a trained physician on cryotherapy.

Surgery and laser therapy, but their use is uncommon.

There is limited evidence that putting an adhesive tape on warts can be effective.

These treatments may be painful and warts may recur.

Do I need to see a doctor?

Check with your doctor if the warts bother you or want your doctor to treat them or if your treatments do not work. If you have genital warts, it is important that you check with your doctor or the GUM clinic so that you can take the appropriate treatment.

Herpes is a common disease in children and infants, but can infect anyone. It can usually infect the face and hands. Appear in children in the nappy area.

What is it?skin

Herpes is a skin infection. Small blisters appear and explode, leaving yellow, moist, and sticky spots dry to crust. The skin under it can be red and inflamed.

What causes herpes?

Relatives result from bacteria entering the skin through injury, scratching or injury caused by an existing skin disease, such as eczema. Herpes can be transmitted by direct contact and sharing towels or bedding with someone who is infected.

What is the cure?

Herpes is likely to heal on its own within three weeks. But they are very contagious, so you should use antibiotic cream or tablets to get rid of them quickly.

Do I need to see a doctor?

Visit your doctor for a diagnosis and prescribe antibiotics. Most people do not get infected after 48 hours of treatment or after their ulcers dry up. It makes sense that children do not go to school or nursery until they become non-communicable.

Usually begin between the ages of 11 and 45 years. Psoriasis spreads in families, and a third of people with psoriasis have a close relative. Psoriasis is not contagious.

What is it?skin

Psoriasis causes the appearance of red spots on the skin. It can appear shiny and cause itching or burning. They can appear anywhere, but are more common on elbows, knees and lower back.

What causes psoriasis?

Some antibodies in the body attack the skin cells by mistake, making them multiply very quickly and accumulate on the skin. Some things may make the symptoms worse, including alcohol, smoking and certain medications, such as anti-inflammatory drugs (eg ibuprofen), and beta blockers (used to treat heart problems). Do not move through direct contact.

What is the cure?

Treatments are used to reduce spots separately. These include:

Creams containing vitamin D or vitamin A.

Steroid creams

Tar preparations

Exposure of skin to ultraviolet (UV)

The medicine given orally or injections.

Do I need to see a doctor?

Most people are treated by their doctors, but some are referred to a dermatologist (dermatologist).

Ringworm is common in children, but can infect anyone. Appear on the head, body, urethral area, foot, nail or beard area.

What is it?skin

Ringworm is a number of fungal infections that grow on a spot or circle of skin. It can be displayed a few millimeters to several centimeters. The spots or circles look red or silver and can become blisters and tannins.

What causes ringworm?

The fungal spores enter the skin through a wound, such as a scratch or a patch of eczema. Ringworm can be transmitted through direct contact and sharing of objects such as towels, bedding or combs. They can also be moved by spa floor or pool areas. Pets can be passed on to humans.

what is the cure?

Anti-fungal creams, powders or pills available in the pharmacy can be effective.

Do I need to see a doctor?

Check with your doctor if you are not sure if it is ringworm, or if sepsis does not respond to treatment taken from the pharmacy after two weeks.

Vitiligo can occur at any age, but more than half of the cases begin before age 20. It also affects men and women no matter what color their skin is. Vitiligo is not contagious.

What is the vitiligo?skin

Vitiligo causes pale white spots to appear on the skin. These patches can occur anywhere, but more pronounced in areas exposed to sunlight, such as the face and hands, and on darker or coagulated skin. Vitiligo on the scalp can cause the hair to turn white. The spots can be small or large, remain the same size, or grow. Vitiligo can not be transmitted by direct contact.

What causes vitiligo?

It is caused by a lack of melanocytes, which discolor the skin. These cells can be missing because:

The immune system does not function properly and attacks it.

The skin exposed to contact with some chemicals or burns.

Vitiligo is also associated with hypothyroidism.

What is the cure?

The treatment aims to restore skin color and control the spread of vitiligo. Treatment can include:

Steroid creams

Ultraviolet (UVA) UV

Staining spots with colored creams, some of which are under prescription.

If vitiligo affects more than 50% of the skin, treatment may involve lightening the healthy skin using medically prescribed creams. It is important that this treatment is under the supervision of a doctor.

Over-the-counter creams that pretend to lighten your skin can contain harmful chemicals, so do not use them.
